Reverse engineering as-built survey for a church in houston-reality IMT

1001 west 11th, Houston, TX. 77008

Reverse engineering, also called back engineering, is the process by which a man-made object is deconstructed to reveal its designs, architecture, or to extract knowledge from the object. Reality IMT worked with a Houston developer to reconstruct this historic church using 3D laser scanning technology. Our team scanned the building’s exterior and interior, then used the pointcloud data to generate an as-built Revit model. The Revit model was then used by the Architect for space analysis to ensure that certain elements are preserved during the renovation process.

The accuracy of the reconstructed 3D model of the structure was within + or – 1 inch. To see the pointcloud online, click here
